About me

If you’re reading this, you must be a little curious about who I am. Read on, and I’ll oblige that curiosity and try not to bore.

Who am I?

Scott SlucherBasically, I’m a guy with a creative itch that has always needed to be scratched. No matter how hard I try to ignore it and pretend it isn’t there, that compulsion to tell stories won’t go away.

I’ve always been drawn to storytellers, whether in my neighborhood and family or on TV. Stories are magic. The ability of one human to make something up that is so seemingly real to the recipient that he or she will laugh or cry or squirm or feel a whole host of other emotions about something that doesn’t exist – how can that be classified as anything other than magic?

So, I’m a husband and father struggling with being too busy, selfish, grandiose and healthy…and finding the time to indulge this need to practice my own version of this magic.

Why am I doing this?

Just like some people get out and jog a few miles every day to stay in shape, I use this blog to work out.

I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions, but on December 31, 2015, I resolved to do one blog post a day that would consist of something I’d written or made that was creative, like a video.

On top of that, I new that I needed to be more grateful and take time to slow down and notice the beauty around me, so I resolved to write each post from that POV as much as possible.

A few days in, a friend pointed out some typos in a post, and when I explained that this was more-or-less a stream-of conscious endeavor, I struck upon the phrase, “a first-draft take on life.” And that’s what it is, warts and all, hopefully devoid of posing and self-consciousness.

If you’ve made it this far, wow! Thank you. I really appreciate it. If you’d like to contact me, check out the links below.
